It's hard to go to school confident and ready to learn if you don't have the proper tools...
This project was born out of the desire to support youth in the City of Richmond. We view this fundraiser as a long-term investment in our community, and our goal is to help Richmond kids understand the value of their education and walk into their respective classrooms with the confidence of knowing that they have the community’s support.
In the first year,
Moving Forward supplied 300 youth from our community with backpacks filled with school supplies. Since then, we have steadily increased the resources we provide, including adding a scholarship program to our list of offerings. As needed, we’ve adapted to the needs of our community. For example, at the beginning of the pandemic, backpacks weren’t essential since students were practicing distance learning. There was, however, a need for headphones, microphones, desks, and home office supplies, so we quickly adapted to meet our community’s needs.
We believe in having the shoes and the school supply items with the same goal in mind, making sure youth from our community feel confident when they make their way into their respective classrooms.
